THE SONG OF JOHN PAUL II THE GREAT
ON THE OCCASION OF THE 100TH ANNIVERSARY OF HIS BIRTH
18 May 1920 – 18 May 2020
- There is a place on earth,
Where the priest, chosen from the People,
Began the ministry of the Good Shepherd.
CHORUS: Wadowice, your hometown,
Witnessed the spiritual growth
In holiness, for every human being,
For whom you will always be an example to follow.
- Karol – you were chosen by God
As the helmsman of the Church community,
To lead it to the port of salvation.
CHORUS: John Paul, you are our holy Leader,
Show us the way to the heavenly land,
So that we will be able to meet you there someday,
Among the saints who await us.
- As the Shepherd of us all,
You exercised the Petrine ministry,
And you opened human hearts to good.
CHORUS: John Paul, today we are asking you
To call out to all of us again:
„Do not be afraid! Swim out into the deep”
For salvation and His love.
- The Lord once stood on the shore,
He looked up at the sky on the day of His glory.
He had already wanted to be with them since that time.
CHORUS: John Paul, the evil is reaching us,
Save the Church, because without it we will die:
„Do not be afraid! Swim out into the deep”.
Go ahead, the splendor of the Resurrection is there.
- When you visited your Homeland,
You were the Father and our Shepherd,
And the community was surrounded by the Spirit of Freedom.
CHORUS: John Paul, today we are humbly asking,
Let the Holy Spirit give us gifts,
And renew the face of our earth,
To live in your freedom forever.
- Today – when you are already in heaven,
We thank God that he gave you to us,
And we ask for your intercession.
CHORUS: Our beloved Polish Pope,
You are a great pride and joy.
Father, Brother, Friend, Compatriot,
You had won the hearts of the people with your love.
